A few words about An. Tsocha and his theater.

The businessman An. Tsochas (1840-1904) opened a theater in Piraeus, where Kanari Square is today. This theater was designed by the great German architect Ernst Moritz Theodor Ziller (1837-1923). It opened its doors in June 1885 and many famous artists took to its stage. In February 1886, arsonists set the theater on fire, but An. Tsochas, undaunted, rebuilt and reopened it.

The wrestler Theodoros Georgiou, who was initiated into the secrets of wrestling by Coutalianos when the two of them were in Latin America, became known to the Greek public through publications such as the one above. The newspapers presented him as “New Coutalianos”

The French wrestler and weightlifter Doublier is in Athens and his performances rival those of Coutalianos.

The above article states that Coutalianos is in the city of “Crete”, but Crete is an island and not a city. Given that the 1st paragraph describes an incident in the city of Smyrna and the 2nd paragraph refers to the city of Vourla (Today Urla), which is located near Smyrna, we believe that Crete is incorrectly mentioned instead of Smyrna.
