An important biographical source.
“When you really want something, you will find it waiting for you.”
Oscar Wilde (De profundis)

(Above) The author Dimitris Karakitsos in his book titled “wrestlers”, refers to the lost memoirs of Coutalianos, arguing that the gaps they have left are difficult to fill in the history of sports. In this chapter we present a text published in the newspaper “Marmarina Nea”. Τhis text is the biography of Coutalianos which was released in Cleveland or N.Y., USA in a limited number of copies. The book of Coutaliano’s biography was published in the USA, at the expense of his sons Georgios and Ellin, while the editing of the texts was undertaken by G.P. Kastritsis who was a member of the Greek community in New York, USA. (Τhe full text of the original biography is posted on our blog)
We believe that this text in its original form was written in the Greek language and was probably never translated into English, because it was circulated among the members of the Greek community of that city. The editor of the newspaper N.S. Lampadaridis, who was also a refugee originally from the areas wetted by the Sea of Marmara, had very good contacts with the community of his compatriots who had settled in the USA, and we assume that it was from them that he received and published the text that we are publishing below.
