We are in the year 1889. The royal family of Greece is celebrating the engagement of the Crown Prince. The atmosphere is festive. Coutalianos, who is in Constantinople, considers it a good opportunity to go to Athens, so that he can be admired up close by the various officials who are gathered in the capital of Greece.

Coutalianos expected that the King of Greece would present him with a medal in one of his performances. Unfortunately, that never happened. In the above article we read that while Coutalianos was giving performances in Athens, the King was in the summer quarters of his palace on the island of Poros (pic below) where he was on vacation guiding his guests around.
